My daughter wants me to do a one night (overnight) visit to her apartment to celebrate my granddaughter’s 15 b/day the next day with a picnic with some friends, I am 66, no underlying conditions, have been SIP since mid March and only going out grocery shopping but this week have been to two supermarkets on different days for about 20 minutes each day early in the morning when not crowded, I am nervous about going, any advice? We’re both in the same city, we just have not seen each other since whole thing started because of transportation problems [ Reply | More ]

If you are in the same city, why would you stay overnight? I think the picnic aspect is 100% fine. It's outdoors. [ Reply | More ]

OP, thats how I feel, I’d much rather do just picnic but she is being so insistent that it’s making me upset because I don’t want them or me to take any chances getting sick, she doesn’t want to hear it, ugh [ Reply | More ]

NP. Your DD sounds selfish, honestly, if you are stressed she should be understanding, not making demands. My mom lives 10 minutes from me in Manhattan and I haven't seen her other than once a week to drop off groceries. [ Reply | More ]

np -- I am in same situation, getting tons of pressure -- please do what makes you feel comfortable, what the experts are saying is recommended -- just do the picnic. Do not let her pressure you. [ Reply | More ]

If you're nervous, don't do it. Don't let your daughter pressure you. You will spend the entire time fretting and not enjoying the event if you feel forced into it. [ Reply | More ]

why are you nervous? wear your mask and wash your hands frequently and do not touch your face, you will be fine and human contact will be good for you [ Reply | More ]

Wow, I would never push my mom to do this. Just the picnic and be honest with her that it makes you uncomfortable to think of spending the night. [ Reply | More ]
