How is FIT for interior design ? The tuition is so much cheaper than Pratt, RSID etc . We are in NYC and this could save so much money. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

It's not as "elite" as some of the private art schools but as someone who spent 100k on fancy art school (and will be paying off the student loans for the rest of my life btw), I would say it's an outstanding option. You will get your foot into the door of the same places as any of these others schools. People come from all over the world to go to FIT just like Parsons or SVA or NYU. [ Reply | More ]

Yes, it's a good option and cheaper. And there's less of a chance of Bella Hadid being in your class! [ Reply | More ]

I am a Pratt graduate and honestly after working all these years don’t see any difference in terms of earnings. It really depends on the individual and what you make of it. [ Reply | More ]

Fellow art school grad - I completely agree with this. Especially for something like interior design where you DC would most likely wind up running their own business. Also, FIT puts a huge emphasis on interning which I think is incredibly beneficial in the art world. [ Reply | More ]

Communication Design major (mid80s, I'm old) and I agree w/spending less at FIT, especially if there's a good internship program. IMO, most career success in the visual arts/design is the result of talent and being a good worker. It's all about your portfolio, and being pleasant to work with! [ Reply | More ]

I know a someone who went there who runs his own successful fashion-related business. I think it's a good choice for a kid who is focused and has an idea of what they want to do. [ Reply | More ]
