Is there any MD or PT mom who could give me some advice? Pretty bad back pain (mid/ upper back) I am 50, have not been doing anything crazy (walk every day) but the night before last started to feel discomfort as I was sleeping, then slight backache yesterday and then last night I slept very little as even just lying bothers me... it is sore and when I touch the area it seems that the skin is delicate to the touch as well. My dh has no patience, he says "it's just a pinched nerve and you don't stretch enough" but I do stretch every morning... I took Advil but it didn't help. What could I do? At this time I really wish I could avoid going to the doctor... Does anyone at least know what could cause this kind of pain? Not sure if it's a coincidence but at times these past 2 days my upper ribs feel slightly sore as well. Thanks [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I would call the doctor and go in if necessary. Things like that could be serious [ Reply | More ]

It could be anything. See your physician not strangers on UB for diagnosis. [ Reply | More ]

I had a similar issue a few weeks ago. Came on suddenly, lasted a week then left. It was a broad pain across my upper back. Very uncomfortable achey, agitated feeling that wrapped around to my front ribs. OTC pain killers were useless. I did a lot of stretching, no relief. Then it just went away. No other symptoms. And I’ve never felt this feeling before. I started to wonder if it was fibromyalgia or arthritis. The discomfort was very even and no position was comfortable. [ Reply | More ]

op- I really hope it's nothing serious. Yes, no position is comfortable. I have a lumbar pillow at my desk and usually it's great for my back, but today even that bothers me... hope I can get some sleep. Thanks for posting [ Reply | More ]

Don't worry, OP. Just call your doctor tomorrow and get it checked. Chances are, it won't be anything. But let your doctor tell you that. Good luck. I hope you're past this quickly! [ Reply | More ]

op here - I have not had fever or other symptoms, I really hope it's not covid. Have been home since mid march, with the exception of the first grocery outings 2 wks ago (wearing surgical mask, gloves and goggles). I went late at night, when it was not crowded. [ Reply | More ]

Hmmm, I’m the OR above. I hadn’t planned to get tested but maybe I should. I haven’t had any other symptoms and nobody else in my family has had other symptoms, though my one son was complaining of back aches. To the OR who tested positive along w your husband, would you please say exactly how it felt? Symptoms? [ Reply | More ]

is it only on one side of your body? and feel like it could be running along your nerves? then consider shingles coming on. [ Reply | More ]
