DS' summer internship canceled. Trying to help him out - and yes, he is working on this too - but hoping to access this group's amazing resources for any insight on a healthcare related volunteer, internship or summer job opportunity. TIA! [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Wish I could help, but one thing you might consider is contacting your local representatives (city council, state assembly, etc.) because their offices sometimes have info. [ Reply | More ]

Contact tracing is not a summer job. There are two weeks of training and most places require a college degree to apply. But Census is a good idea. [ Reply | More ]

First thing I would have him do is enroll in an EMT course. This can be a supplement to whatever else he does (its a p/t course, even the summer accelerated courses) and then, in the future, he has a marketable skill that can be a part-time job through the rest of school, or a volunteer position on campus. My DC is looking into this, but isn't it quite a time-consuming training? Like not something that could be done in a summer? [ Reply | More ]

Is he life guard certified? Every pool is hiring right now in the NY Metro area. [ Reply | More ]

Depends where you are. If you are in a smaller community, I would do the EMT course or see if there are local charities that need help. For NYC I am not sure how old you need to be to do the EMT course. [ Reply | More ]

I think it's 18 in NYC, but 17 by the test date (August 20) outside of NYC. [ Reply | More ]
