We bought a used RV years ago and had a great trip this past week. It was a stretch to get this thing. I was just remembering when my then 13yo ds, said we bought an RV even though we drive this old car? Clearly questioning our judgement. I responded that over the next few years he will be working on creating the kind of life he wants, I would rather have an RV then a newer car if that is my choice. Do you think that is reasonable or selfish? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

How is that selfish? I don't have a lot of money and choose to take one vacation (not lavish) with dcs each year and pay for a club sport for them rather than buy a new car (for example). These are normal life choices - how you choose to budget/spend is your choice. [ Reply | More

At 13 kids place value on different things. To him, owning a nicer car has higher value/importance right now. It's not that complicated, and people grow and evolve. [ Reply | More
