Has anyone taken spironolactone and had constipation as a side effect? My doctor said that isn't a side effect and i haven't seen anything about it online either, but I've noticed a pretty direct correlation. Feeling hopeless about finding a solution for my acne - spiro doesn't even work so well for me, antibiotics haven't worked, and I use a topical but I don't see a big difference from it and get dryness/flakiness. OP: I came close a couple times, but don't think my acne is bad enough. It's persistent, but it's not big, cystic pimples. Not sure if the potential side effects are worth it. [ Reply | More

Daughter is on spiro two years post accutane (it worked, but acne returned). It took several months before she had success on spiro, but it is now working well. No constipation. None of the monthly hassle (blood draws, etc.) of accutane. Much less expensive, as well. [ Reply | More

Spiro has been great for my adult acne - but I had to up the dosage to 75 mg to really see consistent results. I wasn't aware of constipation - it is supposed to be a diuretic. I can't live without it - and very cheap prescription! [ Reply | More
