Does it make sense for DD to take Intro to Computer Programming in Junior year followed by Precalculus in Senior year ? She is taking Algebra 2 for sophomore year but struggling. She may be applying for a business degree in Canada which requires precalculus. Whole point of doing Intro to Computer Programing is to pull up the GPA for applying to US colleges. No, it does not make sense to take a break between those classes. It’s actually a really bad idea, and especially if she is already struggling. If she needs precalculus, sign her up for next year but meanwhile find a tutor and/or class to solidify algebra 2 over the summer. [ Reply | More

Former math teacher here. Do not do this. Precalc will be hard even if she remembers A2 - if it's all a distant memory it's going to be brutal. Can she take an online course this summer not for credit so she nails down her A2 skills? She'll need them. [ Reply | More
