Dumb question....please no snarky remarks. I live in Rhode Island....Providence, on the East Side. All of the houses are VERY close together. I live 20 feet from another house and can very easily see into the apartment next door without really trying to. I live next door to a nice family. We do not talk all that often, they are VERY quiet. They have a little boy that is 3 and just had twin boys in November. Our houses are so close together that it is impossible not to see into their house if the blinds are open and the lights are on. Months ago, every now and then I could see the 3 year old in his room playing, watching TV...etc. Then they had the twins. Last Summer the 3 year old played outside in the yard...he was never out all that often....stayed in the house a LOT even on very nice days. Now, this Summer there are NO children there. NO toys, NO carseats in the car, NO stroller on the porch....NOTHING. There are no children there. The parents are there, VERY quiet and only occasionally come out on their porch late at night to smoke. Where could these children be? It's making me crazy. I have not seen any child since at least January. I realize it is none of my business, but what the hell? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Maybe they were foster children and they were returned to their bio parents? If you saw her give birth, then maybe her children were taken because she was mentally ill. Or maybe her children died in a car accident with their grandparents back in January. Or, maybe the parents were going through some shit and the kids have been living with their aunt and uncle for the past few months while things calm down. [ Reply | More

I saw her pregnant both times....I spoke to her husband after she gave birth....the twins were in the hospital for a few weeks then came home. I saw the 3 carseats getting put in the car. I talked to the dad in January and he was beaming...told me their names and how adorable they were.....it's very strange. I know you think I'm crazy, but our houses are so damn close together. I used to be able to see in the parents room if they had the blinds open and the lights on...I could see the twins cribs. I could also see in the older brother's room if he was in there playing with his toys or looking out the window. Someone who used to cut my hair, Albanian, had her child living with the grandparents and my nanny for a time had her younger child living with her mom back in her home country. I think the kids were living with relatives elsewhere for whatever reason. You can't keep 3 kids inside the house quietly. OP can easily ask the neighbor. Bake some cookies and bring it over. If mom is a nurse, she could be addicted to narcotics. Very common. Maybe twins were born addicted and dc were taken away. Is she still working? If not, I'd assume that is a BIG sign that she is indeed involved with drugs and perhaps had her professional license revoked, losing her job as well as the children. [ Reply | More

The more I think about this, the less sense it makes to me. These are close neighbors, and they know that you know they have three kids.
