Any real estate/ tenant law knowing moms/dads on? Have been renting from a rent-stabilized aptmnt since 2005 with lease until 2007.Kept requesting new lease with no avail , was mentioned they have to renovate floors in kitchen and bathroom,and was asked if i could find a new apartment since we can not be there for them to fix it? what rights do i have? I think if they want to do your kitchen, they have to provide you with accomodations, i.e. hotel or corporate housing. Otherwise, your lease is in effect and they have to give you enough notice in writing that your lease will NOT be renewed. Confused by your post, though...you say lease is in effect til 2007 - it is now 2008! [ Reply | More ]

was in hosptial giving biRth when lease was up in july 2007, kept asking since then for a new lease and all the LL kept telling me was that Albany never sent them the renewal lease for me - i dont believe her [ Reply | More ]

well...you are month to month now, although you do need this in writing . In this case landlord has more control...they do have to give you 30 days notice to vacate, though. My advice would be to start looking for new apartment so you are prepared for worst case scenario. [ Reply | More ]

In a rent stabilized apartment, does the landlord ahve the option to simply not offer a lease renewal without casue or explanation? I don't think they can do that. [ Reply | More ]

careful about that renovation. They might be ale to raise your rent bc of the improvements, which might kick you over $2000. [ Reply | More ]
