Need suggestions for an end-of-the-year gift for dd's two 3rd grade classroom teachers. I would like to spend $25 or less each. tia [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

But don't you think teachers have books coming out of their ears? [ Reply | More ]

no, I think they have limited salaries and enjoy the luxury of buying books.....my sis and bil are teachers and she loves to get B&N certificates. [ Reply | More ]

You could go with Amazon certs. Covers books and a lot of ground. [ Reply | More ]

It depends, are you picking it out? Then if you notice teacher is into mani/pedi that is nice. If you know where she is going on vacation this year, something related to that, if you think she would like a bottle of wine, if you know she has an interset in knitting, cooking, then support that somehow. The more personal the better. If you know nothing about her personal life (and that happens), then a great book you enjoyed that you guess she will like, starbucks card and insulated cup, stuff like t hat. [ Reply | More ]

As a former teacher, I can say PLEASE give them either a Barnes&Noble gift card (or Amazon) OR VISa gift card. Teachers get so much crap from their students. I was always thrilled when I got something where I could choose what I wanted. Remember the B&N gift card could be used for the teacher's summer reading too (not just kids' books). Be kind to them! Lovely things from the dollar store (ended up in a "play center" the next school year until the China-lead thing came out in the news). I did get a nice picture frame, but not my taste--ended up regifting it. A pen set. Just stuff that I would never buy or use myself (or didn't really go with the things in my house). I LOVE my kids and always took lots of photos each year. That was how I remembered my kids. One mom put together a calendar (for the next year) with all the class photos---that was really special. never underestimate the value of a child shopping and choosing something they think their teacher would like based on their relationship and knowledge of the teacher. And if they spend their own money on it at the dollar store, so much the better. What wonderful practice at being a considerate gift giving adult. [ Reply | More ]

buy a nice picture frame and either put a silly photo of your child or some of your child's artwork in it [ Reply | More ]
