i was asking dd about a girl in her class today and she said "oh, we don't like her". i was floored. apparently, dd's friend told dd that "we" don't like her, so dd has been spreading the word. these kids are 5yo. i guess to a certain extent it's human nature but it just struck me as so sad that they are starting stuff like this so young. mostly that she shouldn't be mean to anyone. and that she has an obligation to treat everyone with respect and cordiality, even if she doesn't want to play with them. [ Reply | More ]

oh. too bad you didn't tell her that friends who tell her who she can and can't like aren't really her friends. too bad you didn't immediately invite the little girl over for a playdate. too bad you now have a negative opinion of that little girl based on what your dd's friend decided. too bad you are a bitch. op: i know this is from last night but in case you come back to check it, i wanted to respond. i disagree with your first point. i think children should not tell other children who they should like or dislike, but that doesn't mean they aren't her friends. Second point: why would i invite a girl over for a playdate if my daughter doesn't like to play with her? Third point: my opinion of the girl they don't like is irrelevant. What is relevant is my child's behavior to that girl. [ Reply | More ]

the right lesson is not that she has to be friends with everyone. the right lesson is that she has to be friendly to everyone. she has to treat them with respect and be cordial. inviting someone she doesn't want to play with does not send that message. [ Reply | More ]

Wow where you that girl in your young life. These things happen it is part of our youth. it is our job as a mother to demonstrate the correct behaviors. You need to lay off. Are you the parent who would go over and yell at the kids poking fun. Don't you know why we have reunions, so one day when that child becomes a succesfull, beautiful, well rounded adult she can go to her 20 year reunion and see the fat b@#ches and well you know.
