please tell me if this is normal, 3yo dd had a high fever and sore throat on monday, a temp of around 100 on tuesday and now has a rash on her hands and feet. DH spoke to the ped on tuesday and ped said it's normal, but i'm paranoid - have you ever seen this type of rash after a fever? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

NP: I'm betting roseola. But there are many, many rashes that appear after a fever. [ Reply | More ]

could be coincidental, but have you used anything new, like more sunscreen and it is a reaction? my older dc has had bad reax to difference sunscreens, and I use it more this time of year and all over her body vs just face [ Reply | More ]

Unlikely....the reaction would have been sooner. Google roseola. [ Reply | More ]

Why? It's a common and utterly minor illness. Both my DCs have had it. [ Reply | More ]

personally, i'd be concerned about strep. but strep fevers are usually a bit higher. if the fever returns, i'd go straight to the pedd [ Reply | More ]

My 2yo ds had something similar: high fever and sore throat Sunday and Monday. I took him to ped who said it's likely a virus, and that "summer viruses" (as opposed to "winter viruses" that generate lots of mucus) often manifest like this and quite often, after the fever has gone down, end in a rash. So I wouldn't worry at all. [ Reply | More ]
