I'm organizing a good friend's bday dinner. She originally told me she only wanted three other couples. I ran some other names by her and she said "no" to them. So, then her DH got involved and the group got bigger. Today the bday girl told me that she told a friend she was suprised I hadn't called her yet b/c she was supposed to be invited. Only - she had specifically told me she did NOT want to invite this friend. Which means I have to call this person who is VERY sensitive and act like it was my mistake. Any ideas on how to phrase it so I don't look like a jerk? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

You are a nice friend. I would make the birthday girl call this other woman herself. [ Reply | More ]

i am oh so tempted to tell this person that i thought the bday girl was calling her. kind of make her take the fall without letting the woman know she was not originally on the list. i just don't need this woman on my bad side and it's easy to get there. [ Reply | More ]

Sounds fine to me. You shouldn't have to make enemies over this. [ Reply | More ]
