so i just got a call from a dentist's office that i went to 2 years ago (one time), at which time i had insurance coverage. the office calls (for the first time) to let me know that my insurance company had rejected the claim back then and they were now calling to collect. i never received a bill or anything, and we've changed insurance companies since then. i don't know even know how to get it paid. is there some statute of limitations for something like this? my insurance won't pay claims for services that took place more than one year ago. Dentist office should have notified you earlier, but you still owe the money [ Reply | More ]

make dentist show you proof they submitted it to insurance in timely manner. Maybe they didn't and then you have excellent reason to tell them its their mistake and they eat the money [ Reply | More ]

Call the old company and see what the deal is. Maybe they can give you a tip or two. Then try the old, "I'm sorry - this is two years old, we no longer have this insurance nor do we have any evidence to support a claim. You waited too long to bill me. I'm sure you will understand. And see what the do. [ Reply | More ]

Usually when insurance company denies coverage they send you a letter saying it is denied and you still owe it. I would ask them for proof that it had been denied. You may start that way and once you get that contact insurance company directly to figure out when/if it was submitted. [ Reply | More ]
