looking for place in montauk / amagansett to rent for two weeks at end of august. how much per week should we expect to pay? does $4000/week for a small house that's a 5 min walk to beach sound fair, or pretty high? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

^^ fwiw, $4000/week is really a lot for us. (we spend $3000/month for our apt.) but we're really wanting to get outside of the city for two weeks this summer, as we'll have a newborn + dc. being at the ocean sounds very peaceful. [ Reply | More

I like it there very much, but you could also possibly look into Spring Lake in NJ. It's not as spread out, but it might be cheaper. Might not be... I feel like you could fly to Florida and stay somewhere better for less. The Ritz in Naples, Florida? [ Reply | More

thanks, but wanting to go someplace close to nyc (will have newborn) that we're already a little familiar with. we have been to montauk in the past, staying at motels. love that area...and how deserted the beaches can be (I'm from the west coast, so crowded beaches are my nightmare) and the low-key vibe.
