4 week old seems to have a 'witching hour', meaning that when I feed her in the late afternoon (4 or 5 or 6), afterwards, she has a meltdown and becomes inconsolable except for very short periods of time. Is this colic, or what? TIA. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I could be colic and it could be just that she is tired or over stimulated. It is their way of letting off steam. it will pass [ Reply | More ]

thanks. she's great all day, eats, sleeps, hangs out for a while-we don't do much. Planning to ask the ped at our appt on Friday. Of course DH gets home from work just in time for this and I know he's wondering what goes on all day, but everything goes very well until that time. [ Reply | More ]

Some kids have a "witching hour". My dd did, probably around that age. It really only lasted a short time. I asked the dr about it at one of her well appts and she said it's common. If she's burped, dry, fed you can probably just assume she's going through this. Hang in there. [ Reply | More ]

Sounds normal. She will grow out of it, I promise! As long as she is fed, clothed properly, and has a clean (enough) diaper, all you can do is hold her, rock her, maybe take her outside for a bit. Same thing happened when my dh would get home, too. Bless him, he just took the crying baby while I sacked out in the bedroom w/door closed for a while. [ Reply | More ]

Totally normal. After a long day she's prob over stimulated. Lower lights and noise. This is a good time to put her down a bit. Try sling or carrier facingin so she can't look at exciting things. Stroller with shade and put a blanket over to cover her from seeing things helps too. [ Reply | More ]
