I like that she is very kind and gentle and soft-spoken. I love that my son adores her (and my daughter likes her). I don't like that she can let the kids run over her sometimes and I have to make sure she acts like the boss so that they listen to her. I have other comments but that is the general gist. yeah - my current nanny needs me to spell everything out for her - like db needs to eat x ounces x times a day and doesnt realize that db's needs change as she grows [ Reply | More ]

OR: she definitely has common sense. As for initiative, she does with the kids, meaning she will get them going, playing different things etc. As they got older her job took on more housekeeping, and her initiative in that regard isn't as strong (its not bad, just not great) [ Reply | More ]

We just left NYC and are looking for a family for our amazing nanny. What are you looking for? How many kids, ages, etc? I would HIGHLY recommend ours. Been with us for 2 1/2 years since dd was a newborn. [ Reply | More ]

I love that I trust her 100% and that she always has dd's best interests at heart. She is patient and gentle. She is creative about solving problems and uses her imagination with dd. She takes direction well from me and dh even if I know she doesn't always agree (it was very hard for her to let dd CIO but she did it b/c we asked). Not too much really bugs me about her that I think is worth noting. [ Reply | More ]

^^^ I'm also poster who asked what you meant by initiative -- ours (I'll call her AB) has a lots -- she is highly capable, uses her common sense, tries new things that she knows I would like/approve of, seeks out activities to suggest, etc. You can call me 917.838.3592. [ Reply | More ]

OP: I know this post has taken several twists. I'm also watching another post so my head is spinning. I need to get to bed now. I am the OP. I have a 3.5yr old, nearly 4. If you think your nanny would be interested, and she is outgoing enough to make playdates, etc, please post more info. I'm knocked out now. Thanks for your help. I'll check back on post tomorrow. my responses say that my nanny is kind, gentle and soft-spoken and that she has common sense and initiative. her job has taken on a lot of housekeeping as the kids got older and her initiative isn't as strong there. One other thing is she is the most reliable person on earth - she has missed work like 3 days in 5 years, takes busses in blizzards etc. and arrives on time. amazing that way. [ Reply | More ]

I think there are 2 of us on. Me, who is losing nanny b/c of move to the burbs, and another mom whose dc are older. I left you my phone number and I think most critical info within responses back and forth in my original response. [ Reply | More ]
