Doing weight watchers. I made myself tomato sauce (3 cups = 5.5 points), spinach (1 cup cooked = .5 point) and whole wheat pasta (2 oz = 3 points). Lots of food and very low points! Now here's the kicker- I used some olive oil to saute the garlic and onion for my sauce. 2 tablespoons = 8 points!!!!! Insane! The pan was basically dry by the time I was finished cooking the onions and garlic. Could the olive oil just burn off a little? Do I really need to count it as 8 points? Lordy... Yup, oil and fats are highly caloric. Cooking Light always suggests spraying the pan with cooking spray instead of using oil. Blech, says I. But 2T is a lot just for some garlic and onion. Try using only 1. [ Reply | More ]
