Everyone who put Anderson first, what neighborhood/borough do you live in? Let's play a game and assume we all get in - what's the makeup of the class? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

yup. plus there is going to be busing that will take her kid from the tram or so to the school. Easy breezy. [ Reply | More ]

F to Rockefeller Center, uptown D to 86th St, walk a couple of blocks. It takes around 35-35 minutes door-to-door [ Reply | More ]

you are insane if you believe that. I have to take dc from anderson to UES for a class every week, and it is brutal. also, how long will it take to get to rockerfeller center from your place? my guess is the whole commute won't be less than one hour if you are lucky and everything runs smoothly. there must be better options for you nearby [ Reply | More ]

excuse me? the trip to Rock Center is 10 minutes. Walk over to the uptown platform and another 15-20 minutes to 86th Street. 45 minutes, door-to-door. Coming from the UES is a different story. You have to take a 4/5/6 downtown, transfer, etc. etc. RI is on the F line. [ Reply | More ]

actually the D train does not go to 86th street. you will have to stop at 59th and switch for the B or C. sometimes the wait is 15-20 minutes. also, you are assuming you will step out of your house into a 10 minute train to rock ctr. won't happen. 1 hour if all goes well, more likely 1.5 hours each way. that is nuts. you will see [ Reply | More ]

ok. so it's the D train (which also stops on 47-50 St). The RI bus brings us to the subway station in 5 minutes (and it is easy to time that right in the morning). [ Reply | More ]

NP: Roosevelt Island to kid's preschool downtown is usually 35-45 minutes. Door to door. I timed the commute to Anderson once and it is very similar. [ Reply | More ]

no way can someone take a bus to subway, ride F train to Rock ctr, pick up D train to 59th, transfer to c line to 86th walk 1 avenue over and 2 blocks down to anderson in 35-45 minutes. it is physically impossible, unless all of these modes of transportaion are connected and the person does not have to leave one for the other with waits in between...including going from home to initial bus. you folks are delusional. your kid will suffer this commute. I normally don't participate in the backbiting on UB, but I have to say that you have ruined this thread for me by criticizing this poor mother. You've said her child will suffer...what the h***? [ Reply | More ]

for somebody who does not know much about the subway system you sure pretend to be an expert. The commute is like that: a quick bus ride from door to subway station, downtown F to Rockefeller Center, transfer to uptown B train, get off on 86th St, walk a block over and two down. Total time of commute: somewhere between 40 and 50 minutes. Before you start telling me that this cannot be, please, try it first. [ Reply | More ]

NP: I agree with you. There is no need for a transfer at 59th St, and the B generally runs very efficiently, at least between midtown and the UWS (my daily commute). [ Reply | More ]

All the G&T options require at least 2 subway lines and/or quite a bit of walking. LL: tram/walk/uptown 6. 11: F downtown/walk. 116: multiple choices (F, tram/N, tram/6). Those are the three closest programs to RI. [ Reply | More ]

this is why citywides make no sense for elementary. just develop good local G&Ts, especially in remote areas. making RI part of D2 is equally ridiculous [ Reply | More ]

because Roosevelt Island is not as remote as you might think. It's a good thing it is in D2 especially when MS time comes around. [ Reply | More ]

The D is express during rush hour--it runs from 59th to 125th without stopping. You'll want the local train. [ Reply | More ]

Now that the person from RI was almost flamed for responding, I have a feeling that you'll only get people from D3 to respond...too bad. [ Reply | More ]

I bet it will be. The parent coordinator mentioned a group from the Bronx coming down on a church bus. I think that people from the Bronx might be unwilling to respond here for fear of being lashed for torturing their children with a commute. [ Reply | More ]

We live in the Bronx and can get to UWS (on the 2 or D train) or UES (on the 4 train) in 15-20 minutes (from front door). [ Reply | More ]
