I am ft WOHM and dh works from home and is in the house all day with ds and nanny. He and nanny can put down ds (11 mos) in 10 minutes for nap or bed. They put him in crib tell him night night pat his back, and they stand there for a few minutes while he falls asleep. When I try to do it it take 1+ hrs because he wants to see and play with me, so i walk out and let him cry for a few minutes then go back in. DH says letting him cry is wrong, sends wrong message, i need to stay in room til he falls asleep and eventually he'll do for me what he does for them. i think i can have a different routine than the nanny and dh, but they disagree and say it needs to be consistent. do i push back or do it their way? i absolutely do not agree that someone should stay there until he falls asleep. bad habit, especially if the child wants to play with you. if it works for him, that's fine. but unless he wants to put dc to bed every night, you can do it your way [ Reply | More ]

agree w/this. Their method doesn't work for you (and their method isn't that great, to be honest- he should learn to put himself to sleep) [ Reply | More ]
