What do you think about a SAHM with one child, 10 mo, who has a nanny M-F from 7 am to 8 pm and all day and night for Sat and Sun? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I was a SAHM with full-time help... I think the full-time weekend help is a bit excessive, though! [ Reply | More ]

13 hours a day, 5 days a week is more than full-time, IMO. She has someone there from the time the child wakes up until she goes to bed. [ Reply | More ]

It begs the question of why you are staying at home. [ Reply | More ]

Not really. With 3 DCs, that much help made all of our lives much easier. And I had time to go to the gym and run errands (besides the obvious benefit of being able to spend time one on one with each child, go to classes with them, etc, etc). [ Reply | More ]

my hope is that she realizes that she is not particularly equipped to be a skilled mother and is compensating for that [ Reply | More ]

SAHM w/ a part time nanny is lucky. One w/ a full time nanny (especially 13hr a day) is either lazy or uninterested in rearing her own kid. [ Reply | More ]

i don't know. i live my life very differently. but why does a parent have to be hands on? (i mean, she could be hands on even with the help, but i wouldn't know). i can buy a house and hire a housekeeper to clean and maintain it. i can use a decorator to design it. why do i need to change my child's diaper in order to be a parent? A child is not a house. A child is not a den. You have to be kidding - wow. [ Reply | More ]

of course it's not a house. but society is changing so many things. it is becoming normal to have a child and hire someone to help you care for it. [ Reply | More ]
