How would you prepare dd for life if you knew that, objectively in the eyes of others, she is not pretty? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I am worried about preparing my dd for life regardless of her appearance. [ Reply | More ]

my dd is 9. she is not very pretty. has a big nose that doesn't fit her face. and recessed chin. i actually noticed these problems when she was a baby. But, she happens to be very confident, good student, athlete, etc. we'll see what happens when she gets to middle school and the kids become really cruel. [ Reply | More ]

how old? to decide she's not pretty before she gets a chance to come into her own is limiting I think. at any rate, pretty or not, I want my dc to have their own thing going on--something that gives them a sense of success and confidence. [ Reply | More ]

i don't think i was a pretty kid when I was little and even through teen years, but when I hit adulthood (18-20's) i felt like literally a supermodel. All the guys were paying attention to me and was getting lots of dates, etc. I don't know what heppened. My family was complementing me about how I've blossomed. I didn't have any cosmetic surgery or bood job. You never know how your dd is going to be when she grows up. [ Reply | More ]

It depends on her personality. I would definitely get her involved in team sports if she's interested. You want her to have a chance to experience success with her body that has nothing to do with her looks. Team sports will also give her a chance to develope relationships that are based on similar interest and abilities that aren't based on her looks. [ Reply | More ]

I looked like a man in high school but I got hot in college. Don't worry it will work itself out. The best way to prepare her is to raise her so that he confidence is not dependent on her looks, but what she can accomplish ie. grades, sports etc. [ Reply | More ]
