just got a highlander hybrid and love it. if you just need 2 carseats you could do an accord or a camry hybrid (although that has poor trunk space) or a volvo [ Reply | More ]

gas is 4.25 a gallon, you don't want any kind of suv! go for a honda accord or something similar. [ Reply | More ]

hybrid suv still doesn't get great mileage, better than a regular one, but not better than a car. [ Reply | More ]

Go to fueleconomy.gov and compare the hh to the accord. Go head, do it. [ Reply | More ]

I believe you, that site is horrible to navigate though.. surely a hybrid accord does better than the highlander hybrid. no need for so much space with only 2 kids. just my 2 cents for the OP. [ Reply | More ]

^^^ plus hybrids aren't great for everyone, if she does a lot of city driving it may be a good choice, a lot of highway driving, maybe not. [ Reply | More ]

Hybrid cars get better mileage during city driving - ie stop and go, slow speeds, at highway speed they use gas the way any other car does. [ Reply | More ]

Yeah, multiple impartial assesments of the mileage says otherwise. But keep on thinking that. [ Reply | More ]

The toyota site says the highlander hybrid gets 27/25 mpg and starts at 34K, the honda site says the accord gets 25/31 and starts at 20K. [ Reply | More ]

Toyota Highlander Hybrid. Not SUV, b/c it's built on car chassis. Not "cool" per se, but a great car that will last you for 150k miles or more. Gas mileage great for that type of car. Volvo wagon is also a good choice, but the gas mileage isn't great. [ Reply | More ]
