We started (because he initiated it) around 21 months old, but he never really did it reliably until 2.5 years old. He still wears a pull up at night at 2.75 yo. [ Reply | More

3yo but wasn't successful until 3.5yo when he decided he was ready. Didn't do overnights until 4.5yo, fwiw. [ Reply | More

Okay, not exactly a year. Regressed for a full 6 months, though. The novelty wore off and there were TONS of "accidents." I don't think this is unusual with boys, fwiw. [ Reply | More

see, this is only common when you potty train a kid who is not really ready. doing it early just means you will have months of these kinds of problems. if you wait until the kid is an old 2 yo, it is an overnight success guaranteed. why put yourself and your kid through months of cajoling and failure. i really don't get it [ Reply | More

we could see my 2 1/2 yr old ds was ready, but he's stubborn, so we asked when he thought he'd be ready for the potty. he said when he was 3 he'd be ready, so we waited a couple of days, bought a cake and balloons at Publix, called the neighbor couple over, and sang "Happy Birthday"... that was it... potty trained !
