Will the lay-offs from Wall Street start to effect the Real Estate market in Manhattan. Hoping to move to a better school district...Any thoughts about areas where prices seem effected most but also have good schools (Pre-k, K-5 schools)? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I'll play but I think you will have to go by apartment, you never know which area will have the apt for you. I feel like there are Wall Streeters/corporate lawyers in most of the good Manhattan good PS districts, but that in theory the fringe developments drop in price first, so maybe the Financial District if some of that is assigned to PS234 or 89? - However, who knows, maybe some people will get laid off, want to stay in the city but go public and all gun for the good districts? PS116 or 158 probably have relatively good prices vs. school quality? [ Reply | More ]
