Guitar Moms: DH plays a little guitar - taught himself. And would love to play more so he could play to our 7mo DD - she's fascinated with the thing. Any Father's Day gift ideas? Recs for a good children's song book? He also needs new strings and a new tuner. Any resc for websites or store in NYC to go? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Umanov in the village is a really fantastic guitar store. Once for Chanukah I bought DH a series of lessons. HE was also self-taught and the lessons really helped him go to the next level. [ Reply | More ]

fender and ibanez make good guitars for $150 or less. make sure you hear the salesman play it first so you know if it sounds good or not, is set up well - i.e. strings aren't too hard to press down but aren't so low that they buzz against the frets, and most importantly, stays in tune.
