We stayed at Chatham Bars Inn last Sept and were put in the worst room I have ever seen. It was disgusting: mold in the shower, peeling paint, dirty bedcover. We were switched to a beautiful room but a hotel of that caliber should not even have rooms like the one we were first put in. I will never stay there again. [ Reply | More ]

good luck. are you looking for this summer? chatham bars inn is best (and honestly, there aren't many other resorts that are ocean front). Or you could try Ocean Edge -- it's a resort with condos for rent, lots of stuff for families to do, pools, tennis courts, but not right on the ocean -- you'd be a close drive to the ocean though. that's what we've done a few times and it worked out v well. it is on the bay, but most of the condos that are rentals are "inland" -- i.e., across route 6A (and the beach there is "private" to the condos that are on the water). We've stayed there a couple of times and really enjoyed it -- there are pools (including kiddie pools) within walking distance, they have bikes for rent, there are tennis courts, I think there's also a fitness room (obviously I never made it there). It's also less than 15 minutes' drive to Nauset Beach (big waves) and Skaket Beach (ocean, but not such big waves, so good for little kids). We would stay there again. [ Reply | More ]
