I have done some research on the ERB (WPPSI). To take the test for PreK admission, you need to be 3 1/2, and they give you the same subtests they give to the older kids. This makes no sense to me, because my friend, who is a psychologist, says the WPPSI subtests are supposed to be different for kids under 4. Pls. explain how they can give 3 1/2 yos a test designed for older kids. Pls. only answer this if you know what you are talking about. tia [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

from what I heard (my dd took it at 4yr old) the test for prek admission is diff. They psychologist giving the test will ask things the 3 yr old should know. [ Reply | More ]

I have not seen the test that the ERB testers do administer but our preschool director told me that it was the exact same test as for 4 year olds but graded differently. DC also took it before 4 and was not able to finish it (gave up after 40 mns). This process is crazy. Good luck. [ Reply | More ]

Don't know if it is the same test but my dcs took it at both age 3 & 4 & did better at age 3. The admissions director said this was normal because it is graded on a nationwide scale & most kids do not go to preschool at age 2 so those who do are "ahead of the curve". By the time they take it at age 4 it has balanced out somewhat and they are not longer so "advanced". [ Reply | More ]
