If you live in PS87 zone and applied to NEST you are positively nuts, sorry. I would not consider anything besides Anderson and G&T at PS9. [ Reply | More ]

Even with acceleration at Nest? [ Reply | More ]

PS87 is very good school and the commute to NEST from UWS is an absolute killer so I would never consider NEST for K (and didn't for my dc) living there. Maybe for MS or HS when kids are more able to handle long commutes. [ Reply | More ]

there's good teaching and there's accelerated teaching. [ Reply | More ]

The question is - PS9 over 87??? or 87 over PS9??? The one class thing worries me [ Reply | More ]

For a boy I'd go with PS87. With girl, I'd still do PS9 I think. [ Reply | More ]

Interesting - becuase you think there will be fewer boys in PS9? What's the rationale? [ Reply | More ]

We are at PS9 already and I think the program is less good for active boys, and with one lopsided class it's bound to be even worse. [ Reply | More ]

Ok - I have a pretty non-active girl so for us may be perfect! [ Reply | More ]

I disagree with this. active oys do great at ps9, and it makes me wonder if some people aren't trying to get rid of the competition with thses posts. or they would prefer an all girl class so they are scaring mothers of boys away. who knows, but i believe there will be enough boys and they will do well there as they always have [ Reply | More ]

If anyone's opinion isn't entirely positive about PS9, they get totally attacked on this board. Scaring away mothers of boys? This is craziness. [ Reply | More ]

no. I have had active boys at ps9, and can tell you this is utter nonsense. people are speculating because of the one class thing and last year's class having more dds. but the reality is that the kids there are very happy and the school does a very good job with the boys and girls. none of this post has any bearing in reality, and it does make me wonder whether people are trying to send all the high scoring boys down to nest in order to decrease the competition. may I say that this is nuts, too? Some of us don't mind the commute because our jobs, for example, are already downtown. [ Reply | More ]

Ok, if you have no problem doing drop off and pick up yourself then maybe it can work. I would not be able to do that, and the day is tiring enough as it is for the K-1 kids anyway. [ Reply | More ]

maybe you should take back the generalization that everybody who considers NEST is "positively nuts", no? [ Reply | More ]

That's my opinion, take it for what it's worth. I assume OP has tried the commute and thinks differently, but my opinion still stands. [ Reply | More ]

your opinion is that every single person who commutes with their children from the UWS to NEST is nuts? Even though it works out just fine for that family? Is this how you interact with other people? [ Reply | More ]

and there's one who tries to quote everyone who has the slightest reservation about nest as saying those who like it are QUOTE "nuts" END QUOTE. i guess that would be you. [ Reply | More ]
