Riffing off the burbs post. Here's an example of when I hate living in the burbs sometimes. I'm in our front yard (trying to maintain a damn lawn. Whatever). Neighbor walks up and tells me his WIFE says my husband needs a haircut. Uh. Ok. MIND YOUR OWN DAMN BUSINESS. He was trying to joke but they are so uptight I know he meant it. here's my theory. the people that are so elitist that they don't want to move out of the city end up choosing suburbs with elitist people who don't welcome them. so they think everyone is boring, they don't fit in (wrong type of snobbery), they have a miserable experience, and then say yup, we were right to want to stay in the city.
