My brother, who by the way left his kids to me should something happen, told me last weekend he feels children should be raised by their mothers. I work, his wife stays home. He made a comment years ago that should he die, I need to quit my job. Should I let his comment roll off my back bc clearly he thinks Im a good mother if he chose me over other siblings for his kids..or should I push him. I wouldnt think I would quit my job to watch a housefull of kids unless it was absolutely necessary.. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I would be straight with him. I work, this is part of what makes me a good mom. If that bothers you, please pick a new person to raise your kids... should something happen. [ Reply | More ]

you need to bring it up -- but remember -- thankfully, the chances of your brother and his wife both dying together are slim [ Reply | More ]

Your brother needs to wake up and smell the coffee. nearly 70% of American moms work outside the home (FT or PT). he sounds very egotistical and old-fashioned. so many women work for the intellectual and personal growth, to help pay bills and increasingly more are main breadwinners!!! also, kids go to school 8 am to 3 pm so what are you going to do, play tennis, get your nails done and dust the piano five times a day ??!!!! Of course I know this but you cant rationalize with the "old-fashioned". It sucks to ahve an unsupportive brother..like I need one more thing to feel guilty about. [ Reply | More ]

If he dies and his wife isn't around, how is he going to influence what you do about work? You just keep working [ Reply | More ]

Tell him that's nice, and you expect he's made you the beneficiary of an enormous life insurance policy to live off of if he dies and you need to quit your job to raise his dc. [ Reply | More ]
