I cannot wait until my wretched boss has her baby - she will FINALLY (hopefully) understand what it's like to try to juggle work and family. She's so smug about being able to do it all, and actually once said to me, "You know, having a couple of kids isn't the same as a disability, and I won't 'accommodate' anyone who tries to come to me thinking along those lines..." I hate feeling this way, but she has made my working life so difficult - or rather, my attempts at balancing my work life with my home life so difficult - that I can't help but look forward to watching her own attempts to do the same. [ Reply | More ]

The most common is the, "No...I'm not approving that vacation day...I think we may have a project coming in that week, and while I'm sure you'd like to go to the preschool graduation, we might need you here..." (*note the "may" and "might"); "Your child is sick AGAIN? Ughhhh...well, how soon can you get here?" (*I missed 3 days between October and April d/t DD being sick) [ Reply | More ]

Sounds sort of discriminatory to me. [ Reply | More ]

Hard to say - she's generally not a very nice or giving person (complained that a co-worker took an entire week off after her mother died - very suddenly, and in her home country). [ Reply | More ]

she'd about to eat a piece of humble pie soon... unless, of course, she hires a couple of nannies to take care of her child around the clock... (one nanny won't cut it) [ Reply | More ]

Be careful - she likely won't make the same choices as you or have the same priorities. It might not get better - it could, in fact, get worse. [ Reply | More ]

NP - ITA. In the beginning especially she will feel like she's got something to prove. And also, really, things won't change that much for her until she has 2 dc or the first is in some sort of school or daycare. [ Reply | More ]
