I got laid off-what do I tell nanny? We plan to keep her at least for now, but I won't be back to work until Jan at the earliest (my only qualm about keeping her is not the $$ but now we have too many people around-DH on sabatical). [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Because she has been with us 5 years and I will want her when I go back to work, plus having another DB in Sept. [ Reply | More ]

are you positive you will be returning to work? that would be my only concern. I would tell her, and see if she wants to take any vacation time before the new baby, while it is convenient for you [ Reply | More ]

yes, I am the main breadwinner, so will definitely be going back. Nanny already took her vacation this year plus an extra week and we will give a week off at Christmas too. [ Reply | More ]

see if she would be cool with a week off without pay...this way you get a week without too many people around. or even half pay [ Reply | More ]

Unfortunately, I don't think she would be-what else can I do? Rearrange hours? As it is, we have several hours a week we don't really need her because DCs are in school. [ Reply | More ]

can you change her duties then? more housekeeping or shopping for groceries? [ Reply | More ]

Already have her shopping, we talked about adding housekeeping (more than the pick up she currently does) when her hours were during DCs school, but she declined! [ Reply | More ]
