I know this will sound crazy, but I'm almost afraid of getting pregnant again, and being disappointed in the baby's gender. I NEVER thought I'd care about this, but after two boys, I really want a girl. I know all I should care about is having a healthy baby, but I can't stop obsessing over having a girl. Please tell me this is normal. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

it's totally normal according to my therapist. i was in the same boat as you a while back. i had one boy and i knew this baby was going to be my last and i was obsessed over having a girl. i was so disgusted by myself. but the therapist said it's fine to grieve not having a girl, but it's not ok not to love the son you end up with. that said, i did have a DD but she's not the DD i envisioned -- she's very athletic, physical -- a total bully -- not the girly girl that i'm going to be picking china with in 25 yrs. GL -- i know how you are feeling right now. [ Reply | More ]

no - OP is not nuts. her feelings are her feelings. she wants a girl, but i'm sure if she did end up having another boy, she wouldn't leave him shivering on a doorstep of a church... everyone is allowed to feel what they want -- it's how you react to your feelings -- now that's what's important [ Reply | More ]

We are considering adopting for this reason. (Flinching in wait of the flames.) [ Reply | More ]

Someone here accused me of ordering a child like a puppy from the pound. I just figured that after two boys and two premature births, adopting would be a good option for us. [ Reply | More ]

and you won't have to lose any weight once the baby comes home, right? you've got to do what's right for you and your family and not care about what others think or say. [ Reply | More ]

It's not going to keep us from doing it, just from maybe posting about it here :) (And thanks.) [ Reply | More ]

and if anyone asks, just say your OB recommended that you not get PG again because the risks to you and the baby were too high.... (that is if you feel the need to give an explanation) [ Reply | More ]

Well, DH jokes that we should tell the truth - his wife wanted to dress someone in smocked dresses without child services being called. [ Reply | More ]
