Friday was my last day on the job, coworkers gave me a package of 4 large cupcakes, it was the end of the day and I was going out for dinner and couldn't carry them. I asked a coworker to share them with the group and thanked the group I was with, would you consider this rude? What else could I have done with them. TIA... [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

yes it was rude. You don't leave a gift. Take them, and if you absoultely couldn't manage to carry them with you (which I find hard to believe) then you could have thrown them away out of view of co workers. [ Reply | More ]

Yes, it is rude. I can't imagine that it would have been that difficult to carry four cupcakes. [ Reply | More ]

I'm in NYC and I couldn't carry them without spoiling them, in addition it was a warm night and the icing would have spoiled. [ Reply | More ]

it wasn't that warm friday night-- it was lovely. I hope you at least ate some and shared with the group you were with-- that's just being gracious. If you handed the whole package back to one of the people who gave them to you, then, yes, that's rude. Not the end of the world, but rude. [ Reply | More ]

Icing doesn't spoil that easily. I am in NYC too, I still don't understand why you couldn't carry them. That said, I don't think it is something you should worry about too much. What's done is done and if the person felt you were rude she'll forget about it soon enough. [ Reply | More ]

I'm the OP and was in Jersey City travelling back to NYC for what it's worth, the cupcakes would have been thrown away so I gave them away. [ Reply | More ]

people do't think. I once was given a big flower arrangement on my last day at work, when everyone knew we were having a going away party that night. I left them at the office. [ Reply | More ]
