Where do you buy a first bed for a 1 1/2 yr old. Does it need to have railings? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

better to not have railings. my ds was jumping on his bed and nearly destroyed his ear when he came crashing on the bed rail. just put pillows on the floor near the bed. [ Reply | More ]

bad advice. just cause your kid is a jumper doesn't make this ok. We bought a regular twin, then installed a side rail that can be tucked under the mattress when not in use. our daughter moves around alot in bed and w/o rail she would've fallen out 100s of times by now [ Reply | More ]

I bought double beds for my kids so I never needed railings. [ Reply | More ]

Regular twin bed and you can make your own safe side rail by putting a swim noodle under the fitted sheet (on the edge). It creates just enough of a barrier that dc will not fall out of bed. [ Reply | More ]

Some models just tuck under the mattress - no installation necessary. [ Reply | More ]

Also, can I buy a bed that is low to the ground, or is that not necessary? [ Reply | More ]

Not necessary. Also, consider buying bed rails from consignment... you'll only need them for a few weeks to a month or 2. It's a very short transition. [ Reply | More ]
