It's incredible to me that my late Dec dc has to take SB exam for Hunter when still of age 3. Unbelievable! And that is supposed to be determinative? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

it is bs, but many here will say that the SB is infalllible in determinging IQ in young dcs. of course they have kids who scored well on it. [ Reply | More ]

That is silly, of course it is not infallible, no test is. It is, however, the best indicator of school success of all the silly tests given to four year olds. But many smart kids don't do well b/c they are four and will not always play the game. [ Reply | More ]

it is not the best indicator of school success. show me the studies comparing these tests and following kids out over the long term and maybe you can make a claim like this. sheesh...you people say whatever you believe without any empirical evidence whatsoever [ Reply | More ]

That doesn't make sense -- he won't be five the next year so why is he taking it? [ Reply | More ]

He will turn 5 the following year, just in December. But the testing period is in the autumn, so the year before when he takes the test he won't have turned 4 yet. Get it? [ Reply | More ]

no. He will take it when he is 4, after he turns 4 in December. [ Reply | More ]

No. Hunter testing is over by mid-December. If OP's dc has a late December bday he'll still be 3 (barely) when he takes the test. [ Reply | More ]

It's no big deal. My December DD took it this year and got a 99. Dinged at round 2, though. She had no problems with the SB. Found it fun and asked if we could go back and do it again some time. [ Reply | More ]

Just because it wasn't a big deal for your dc doesn't mean it won't be for another dc. The younger they are, the less predictable they are about things like separation from the parent, willingness to cooperate with a stranger in a strange setting, stamina, etc. None of those things are related to intelligence, but they can all seriously depress the score. I can understand why OP is concerned. [ Reply | More ]

np - All the OR is saying is that it doesn't necessarily mean that OR's dc will score poorly. [ Reply | More ]
