In your opinion, how many after school activities (e.g., dance, sports) each week would be appropriate for a child in kindergarten? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Next yr when my twins are in K, they will be doing an after school program w/ dance, soccer, swimming. They will have down time for snack & hopefully some rest quiet time/bead making, but they will have activities every day. I think this is OK. [ Reply | More

My son does tae Kwon do 2x a week for an hour each. This spring he wanted to try baseball so that was another 2x a week. It was way too much. We are sticking to one sport, 1-2x a week. [ Reply | More

You know your child better than we do; his/her stamina, interests, how s/he handles transitions. For our dc we held off on all after school activities for the first 3 months of school and it was the right decision. But it's different for different dc. [ Reply | More

I think this depends. If your school has no homework, you may find it easy to do more activities. We did 3 but one was a half hour piano lesson at our home and have no homework for K. [ Reply | More
