my father died very suddenly when i was pregnant....ds is about to turn one and i am missing my dad so much and can't believe that my dc will never meet him. Just when I think I have accepted him being gone, grief overwhelms me again. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I'm so sorry. My mom has been gone almost 4 years, and I still have trouble on certain days or times of the year. It is a shame that your son's birth was around the time of your father's death, but try and focus on the good things - how proud he would be of your son, stuff like that. [ Reply | More

That's the way it was for me too. My older ds was a baby and I got pg soon after her death, so I didn't have much time to grieve. Now it hurts me at odd times and I break down. [ Reply | More

Well, what I would suggest is putting out a picture of him and talking to him- tell him how much you miss him and that you wish he could be a part of it all. This isn't conventional knowledge, but people do hang around in spirit form quite often. Your dad is probably watching you with great love. [ Reply | More

My ds was 6mo when my Dad passed away very suddenly. But my Dad did get to hold my ds when he was a baby and I talk about him all the time. It's been three years for me and it's still very hard. Just do your best to make him a part of your ds's life, even if he's not here physically. [ Reply | More
