Has anyone submitted a book proposal to an agent? If so, how many agents should one submit to? I don't know the ropes- like how long to expect to wait to hear a response. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Yes! and four years and many revisions later, I got an agent and a book contract. You know you have to submit a query letter first right? you then have about a 1 in 100 chance of them wanting to see the proposal. I'd send a lot [ Reply | More ]

I submitted a proposal to Levine Greenberg Literary Agency- they have a proposal form on their website which required a bit of work & preparation. Congrats on your book- is it fiction or nonfiction? Are you writing it now? [ Reply | More ]

thanks, I just got the contract last week so I'm starting soon. It's non-fiction, education field. I recommend contacting a lot of agents--maybe 20 at a time. With my book, I contacted about 40 agents, 5 were interested at first, and in the end it was just one. If I hadn't contacted her... Is your book non-fiction? What area? [ Reply | More ]

Wow, sounds like a process! My book is a biography on an amazing, undiscovered woman- sort of a biography wrapped in some history [ Reply | More ]
