I really need a good marriage counselor. We're on the brink and I'm scared to put what is so fragile in the hands of someone that could make it worse. Can anyone recommend someone that helped them or tips on how to find someone? I'm in midtown east, but will go anywhere in Manhattan. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Ugh - I'm sorry that you haven't found therapy helpful. Has it made things worse? I'm afraid it is going to be like ripping open a scab and that we'll bleed to death without the right doctor. I'm hopeful though because we both want to make things right. [ Reply | More

Hi - I had to go away but I'm back. Therapy didn't really make anything worse but it did get very furstrating as we just sat in limbo with no movement. Ultimately I just decided to live with the issues we have and try not to examine our marriage very closely. [ Reply | More

often times, therapy makes things worse before things get better. rather, it can be painful but can reward with richer experience later on. minuchin or ackerman trained therapists are very good-can call for referrals or alumni of the institutes. i found our therapist through socialworker. org [ Reply | More
