am part of the Wall Street fallout, main breadwinner for our family and want to start my own company (investing/consulting) - will require little venture capital (which I know well). Fiance is very UNsupportive because I have been repaying a loan (to him), I haven't sold my apt yet and my best guy friend gave me a pep talk to do it and I have people already interested in the biz. Fiance said "it's not the best time to do this." I told him I need a supportive partner who believes in ME and he's all pissy with me now. WWYD? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I can see why he's unhappy if you still owe him money. Pay him off then do what you think will be best for your family. [ Reply | More ]

what's the deal with owing the fiance money? you're about to be related with co-mingled funds. I could never marry someone who didn't support me in my goals. you guys need to be on the same page on this and he should get over this "loan" if he's going to marry you. is he going to keep all of your finances separate after marriage? how will he survive if you're the main breadwinner? agreed! my dh launched his own business before we were engaged and although I didn't fund anything, I was main breadwinner as business got off the ground. If he needed $, totally would have GIVEN it to him. [ Reply | More ]

ita. if he is wary of it because he thinks it is too risky that is one thing, but if he is actually concerned about the money you owe him, he is being a jerk. [ Reply | More ]
