It's been awhile since my dc was in K, but I recommend lots of down time after school and as much sleep as possible. A new school and long day can be really stressful for a child. [ Reply | More

Its a loooong day. In the beginning, we came home after school every day and just chilled. No playdates, no afterschool activities. There are always those moms who are going crazy with playdates every day and I think some people are afraid that if they don't join in their child will be left out with no friends, but that really isn't the case. The children find friends - they are just like adults - given time they tend to gravitate to certain other children and the playdates (while they look like the work in the beginning) don't really change what the children are going to do naturally anyway. And the afterschool activities are just killers. Also, early to bed, high protein breakfast, calm mornings. Enjoy! [ Reply | More
