I'm getting my hair colored for the first time and need some advice. I am 45 and have no grey hair (good genes) but my hair is looking dull. Bob haircut, brunette. Would you recommend getting semipermanent color to make it look richer, or getting highlights instead? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

waste of money to get semi permanent, get some lowlights for best results. [ Reply | More ]

lowlights are darker tones in your hair. They are super subtle but add lots of interest and dimension. [ Reply | More ]

Also, go very slow the first time and make sure the colorist understand exactly what you want. The colorist can often have a heavy hand because they do this all day and want to see big results which is not necessarily your goal. [ Reply | More ]

i disagree. i love semi-permanent. the upkeep is much easier, and it makes my hair shinier, fuller and looks great. [ Reply | More ]

i wouldn't do it. if you have no grey, just wait. you're starting something that you're going to have to continue and you will hate that. [ Reply | More ]
