i never had opinion about private school, until I found UB. Now I think private school is quite possibly the worst thing in hte world and does nothing but make the parents nuts, shelter the kids and basically ruin public education for everyone else. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

It's not enough. I should have said $$ and time. Public schools are seriously underfunded. Parents who give a crap about education are leaving the public school system, leaving only poor parents who don't have an option (or the resourses to help)or don't care. [ Reply | More

well then maybe we need to "invest" in vouchers so that they will have options too. We need competition. There is plenty of $$ going to public schools. well, if you look at what public school spend per student, most of the time it is equal to or greater than what private schools spend. If we could cut out the admin, and the red tape and all of that, maybe we could get a real look at what actually needs to be spent. I'm open to whatever needs to be done. I agree that there is alot of red tape and over bloated admins. However, public schools require alot more money to run than private schools becuase they are gerneally part of larger school systems and they have different demands and requirements on them. Plus, private schools have HUGE endowments, and the students get lots of extras from the rich parents who are willing and to pay and put in the time. You can't just look at the per capita spent of students, there is a lot more that goes into it. [ Reply | More

This is absurd. If there were no private schools all private school parents would crowd the best publics even more than they already are, and the crappy ones would stay just as crappy. No private school parent would set a foot in there. [ Reply | More
