ditto. They are only 75% accurate. I changed my tune when someone I know had good results and didn't have an amnio or nuchal. She gave birth to a baby with DS [ Reply | More

np, It's a screen that provides an estimation of likelihood, not a definitive answer. With odds of 1/2092, of course OP could still have a Down baby, but if the risk of m/c from CVS or amnio is higher, she might want to take that in to consideration as well. [ Reply | More

The odds largely reported for amnios and CVSs are outdated and largely incorrect. New studies are underway that indicate the odds of a m/c are much, much less than what we are told. Plus, much of it is due to the skill of the practitioner so if you have an amnio or CVS in most places in NYC, your odds are even lower than the overall. [ Reply | More
