Got a bunch of breastmilk in 4 week old's ear. Is that an ear infection in the making? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

no. you are way off base. what will actually happen is that that ear will forever be healthier and less susceptible to ear infections. [ Reply | More ]

Well, breast milk is supposed to cure pink eye, so I'm guessing it's not going to hurt the baby's ear. LOL at the image of all the spraying, though. [ Reply | More ]

That's not how it happens! The formula gets sucked from throat into nasal tubes - it then can get into inner ear tubing. Not from outside. [ Reply | More ]

I am too being serious. The position and sucking action of bottle feeding vs. breast feeding can lead to fluid being sucked in just like I described. It was a problem for us even though I was feeding pumped milk - babies who have nasal/ear tube configurations susceptible to fluid buildup shouldn't suck on a bottle unless they are propped to at least a 30 degree angle. ok. but just for clarity, it's the bottle, not the formula. [ Reply | More ]
