moving and I have some old pieces that I would like to see their value. Anyone know where to start? Do I call Sotheby's or is there an easier way? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

you can get a general idea sometimes by looking on ebay. Would not be exact but might give you a ballpark [ Reply | More ]

thanks. I'm probably the one person who has never used e-bay. Should I just take a picture of the pieces and put it up? What if I don't want to sell it? [ Reply | More ]

no. I meant just searching for similar items to see what things are going for, not putting yours up for sale [ Reply | More ]

Sotheby's is a pretty long process. First you have to submit pictures and then they are reviewed ny a committee. Then if they are interested in seeing them they will contact you to see them and appraise them. We did it for a painting we found in the attic. The whole process took about 6 months. I assume furntiture works the same. [ Reply | More ]
