reading the Omnivore's Dillemma right now. Live in NYC. Are there good local farms to buy meat from? I am so sick thinking about the disgusting food I've been buying from the supermarket! Also, is Urban Organics still around? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

It's pretty hard to get food from local farms. My mother had a Sussex County farm deliver meat to her, then I picked it up from her when visiting. The Union Square farmer's market gets some good poultry and beef, it sells out early though. [ Reply | More

My personal favorite meat vendor at the Union Square Greenmarket is the Flying Pigs. They are there on Fridays and Saturdays. There are many other meat vendors that sell beef, lamb, chicken, etc. [ Reply | More
