I lost my job today. Lay off. How do I say it when people ask me "How's work?" I had been back from my 2nd maternity leave for 3 weeks. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

sorry to hear it. same happened to me this week and I am pregnant. I think it depends who you are talking to. For people I am not that close with I tell them I am taking time off with the family and will go back to work next year. For others, I tell them I was laid off. [ Reply | More

you too. was anyone else laid off? If not, call a lawyer. It is very suspicious to fire to a pregnant person, and there is a presumption that it is discriminatory, unless the empoyer can show otherwise. [ Reply | More

This happened to me my first day back. I didn't end up filing a lawsuit but it was really lame and unsettling. Don't worry about appearances, it won't help you get a new position.
